I am extremely passionate in my work with children, families, and parents, and in helping new parents navigate their parenthood journey, no matter what season they may be in. The transitions and changes of parenthood and mental health challenges through pregnancy and postpartum are often not discussed and healthcare providers are frequently missing the signs or not screening properly. Parents who experience a loss or repeated losses are not properly supported. New parents or conceiving parents as a collective are not properly supported. This can all take a toll on the parent, partner, infant, child, siblings, and family unit.
I am dedicated to helping to close this gap. Motherhood is hard. Parenting is hard. The identity shift of becoming a parent can be very overwhelming and isolating. It can be new and scary. As a mother myself, I know there are good days and there are bad days. And right now, you may feel like there are more bad days.
Whether you are a new parent needing support navigating this new season or a parent wanting help with your child's behavior; whether you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or recently postpartum; whether you are a first-time parent or a seasoned parent; whether you are having difficulty conceiving or have experienced loss or repeated losses; I am here to support you. These are some of THE biggest transitions you will go through. Both physically and emotionally. It is a huge identity shift. There is a new you. While your experience is uniquely yours, and while sometimes it can feel like nothing can help; we are not meant to do this alone. You are NOT alone. You ARE worthy and it is OK to ask for help!
Give me a call or send me an e-mail for a free consultation and see how I can help you and your family! I look forward to connecting with you soon!
A note about minor therapy sessions
Jennifer Whitfield, with Hope Health & Healing Counseling Center, LLC does not participate in individual court cases, child custody cases, court appearances, testimony and cannot provide any recommendations for custody or timesharing for parents. Jennifer Whitfield is not a court appointed psychologist, child custody evaluator with relevant training to discern optimal custody arrangements, nor is Jennifer Whitfield a parenting coordinator with the ability to help plan or execute parenting plans. As such, Jennifer Whitfield will provide you with appropriate referrals and resources as necessary.
For minor therapy sessions, in the case that parents are separated, both parents must consent to treatment for the child. Jennifer Whitfield will request a copy of the parenting plan to review. Oftentimes with shared decision making, both parents need to confer with the other to inform them of their child’s participation, or mutually agree on a provider.
