Hello and welcome! I am so glad you are here. I know deciding to enter therapy is a a big deal and an extremely personal choice. I realize it may not be an easy choice but by being here, that means you are making a decision to invest in yourself and an investment in your family.
I am Jennifer Whitfield, the owner and provider of Hope Health & Healing Counseling Center, LLC. I entered the mental health field in 2009, where I have specialized working with children, parents, and families. Over the years, I have worked in a variety of outpatient and inpatient centers with children, teens and adults. I proudly opened the doors to Hope Health & Healing Counseling Center in 2014.
Education & Credentials
I am a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor-Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™, Certified Infant-Family Mental Health and I am also trained in Perinatal Mental Health. I am currently studying for the exam which will grant me Perinatal Mental Health Certification. I have also completed the Becoming Us™ Facilitator Training with Elly Taylor and I am an approved facilitator for the Becoming Us™ Program. I am also licensed in the state of Virginia and Washington D.C.

My passion and specialties are within Perinatal and Postpartum Maternal Mental Health including LGBTIQA+ parents and families, Infant and Child Mental Health, Parenting Support, and Family Therapy. I am extremely passionate supporting new and seasoned parents and working with toddlers, children and adolescents.
I have extensive experience and training providing services addressing areas of anxiety, depression including PMAD's, trauma, birth trauma, adjustment through pregnancy and postpartum periods, postpartum planning, parenting challenges, attachment, relationship difficulties, child behavioral concerns and challenges , grief & loss, pregnancy loss, fertility challenges, and family conflict.
I have been trained in various therapeutic approaches and interventions. However, my approach is always tailored to your needs. I meet you where you are, helping you get to where you want to go. Everyone is different, just as your needs and treatment will be different. Some respond best and prefer talk therapy. Other people may connect best and find healing through Sand Tray, art, movement, or other forms of expressive therapies. Some common therapeutic approaches and interventions that I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment Focused, Strength Based, Mindfulness ,as well as Play, Sand Tray and Expressive Therapies. However, when you come into my office, we will create an individualized plan of how to accomplish your identified goals and what works best for you.
I see my role as one that facilitates positive change and helps to guide you through the twists and turns of life. In my office, I provide a welcoming, open and safe space for your self-discovery and growth. In my office you will be met with compassion, warmth, and support, while helping to keep you accountable and focused on your growth and goals. I will empower and encourage you to take responsibility for your healing. I believe we all have the strength of healing ourselves. Sometimes, however, that ability feels lost and we need someone to help us find it.
